Peak air pollution levels
Create graphics showing the highest air pollution levels each year at California air pollution monitors, and compare them to the state and federal standards.
Ozone: A corrosive gas formed by a sunlight-driven reaction between hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides. The main summer pollutant.
PM-10: Dust and other particles measuring 10 microns or less, about one-sixth of a human hair's diameter. The main fall pollutant.
PM-2.5: Soot and other chemical specks particles measuring 2.5 microns or less, about 1/24 of a human hair's diameter. The main winter pollutant.
